Hybrid Publishing for Founders
Authors & Co is a hybrid publisher specialising in nonfiction books for founders, leaders, and industry experts.
Founded by Abigail Horne in 2017, we have worked with over 700 authors across 50 countries to turn their expertise into strategically positioned, professionally published books.
If you are a founder, CEO, or subject-matter expert who wants to write a business book without handing your story over to a traditional publisher, hybrid publishing is the route that gives you professional quality and full ownership at the same time.
What is hybrid publishing?
Hybrid publishing sits between traditional publishing and self-publishing. You retain full rights to your book and receive the majority of royalties, while working with a professional editorial and design team. The result is a book that meets the standards of traditional publishing without the loss of control that comes with a traditional deal.
At Authors & Co, services include professional editing, cover design, interior layout, ISBN registration, and distribution into major online retail channels including Amazon, Waterstones, and global online retailers.
How is hybrid publishing different from self-publishing?
Self-publishing means doing everything yourself – or coordinating multiple freelancers independently. Hybrid publishing means working with a dedicated team who manage the entire production process for you, to a consistent professional standard.
The distinction matters for positioning. A book produced through a reputable hybrid publisher carries credibility that a self-published book often does not, particularly when it comes to speaking engagements, media coverage, and business development conversations.
Who do we work with?
Our authors are typically founders, CEOs, investors, coaches, consultants, and industry experts who want to write a nonfiction book that works strategically for their business or legacy. Many of them have never written a book before. Some work with us collaboratively; others engage our ghostwriting service for full writing support.
We have published books across business strategy, leadership, personal development, entrepreneurship, health, finance, and specialist professional fields. Our authors come from the UK, United States, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and beyond.
What does the process look like?
Every project begins with a strategy conversation to establish the book’s positioning, audience, and purpose. From there, we move through manuscript development, editorial, design, and into production and distribution. Most projects take between six and twelve months from first conversation to published book, depending on the complexity of the manuscript and the level of writing support required.
We work with a small number of authors at any one time to ensure every project receives full attention. If you are considering a book, the right starting point is a conversation about what you want the book to do for you and your business.
Can I get a ghostwriter through Authors & Co?
Yes. We offer full ghostwriting and collaborative writing services for founders who want professional writing support. Our ghostwriting projects begin with a series of recorded interviews or conversations, from which we build the manuscript in your voice. Every ghostwritten book goes through the same editorial and production process as author-written manuscripts.
Ghostwriting is entirely confidential. The book is published under your name, and the writing relationship remains private.
